It’s only been barely a month since Apex Legends saw a surprise release in early February, and yet, the player base is already 50 million strong. That number is only going to grow as Respawn Entertainment, the game’s developers, continue to show just how dedicated they are to cultivating the scene and improving the game, as evidenced by the latest leaks as per @RealApexLeaks on Twitter.

According to the Twitter account, who specializes in leaking information on Apex Legends, data miners found multiple references to new stuff in the game’s files. This includes a possible inclusion of a Remote Turret and a Flamethrower, as well as the addition of NPCs (Non-Player Characters) into the game. But, perhaps more important is the fact that Apex Legends might just receive a Battle Pass, similar to Epic Games’ Fortnite, real soon.

It only makes sense that Apex Legends receive new weapons in future updates. After all, the game is about killing other players and being the last man standing. The more weapons that are continuously added to the game, the less likely that the game will feel boring and stagnant for avid fans.

What’s interesting is the data found on NPCs, however.

Apex Legends is a player-centric game. To add NPCs to it would be a total surprise, to say the least. It is possible that Apex Legends is taking a cue from Fortnite and will receive NPC enemies scattered all over the game. Not to mention, Apex Legends was based on the popular FPS title, Titanfall, which used NPC enemies as well.

Details on the rumored Battle Pass has been scant. The game’s publishers, Electronic Arts, and developers, Respawn Entertainment, have yet to release any details regarding the release of the progression-based reward system to the game. But it wouldn’t come off as a surprise if it did release eventually. After all, the use of Battle Pass is a business model that has proven successful for numerous games, including Dota 2 and Fortnite.

According to yet another leak from @RealApexLegends, players will see details on the Battle Pass in the main menu really soon, albeit on a separate. According to the leaks, the Apex Legends Battle Pass will be similar to that of Fortnite; there will be both free and paid versions available.

Apex Legends needs to be monetized one way or another. It is neither cheap nor cheap to try and keep up with the game’s growing player base, and introducing a Battle Pass would help give both the developers and publisher enough money to continue improving the game while still keeping it free-to-play.

While all of the leaks and information above can be found in the game’s code, there’s still no assurance that they will be introduced soon if at all.

If nothing else, the recent leaks suggest that Respawn Entertainment are definitely invested in Apex Legends for the long-term.
