The CEO of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, paid the LoL Park in Jongak, Seoul, a visit on March 10 to better understand the culture of Korean esports, as well as that of Koreans in general. Adam Mosseri is Instagram’s latest CEO. He was appointed last October following the departures of co-founders, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. His reasoning behind paying Korea a visit was reportedly because he believes that the country plays a key role in global trends and that the country itself is a huge market for the brand. During his visit, Adam Mosseri took the time to immerse himself in what it’s like to be in the middle of what’s considered to be the birthplace of esports.Korea is widely considered as the country where the entire esports phenomenon started. It is only natural for a CEO of a social media giant like Instagram pay the country a visit, especially since esports content has become quite popular among users of social media, in particular, Instagram. Two matches between LCK teams were played during his visit to the LoL Park; Team Griffin vs SANDBOX Gaming and kt Rolster vs Afreeca Freecs.
