Tencent’s hit mobile MOBA, Arena of Valor, will be part of the 2019 Southeast Asia Games, which will take place in the Philippines later this year. The company made the announcement official earlier on Sunday, March 24, at the “UP 2019 Tencent NEO Culture Creativity Conference”, which was held in Beijing, China. In addition to Arena of Valor being part of the 2019 Southeast Asia Games’ slate of esports titles, Tencent also announced that they will be rebranding the Tencent Games Arena tournament series. They will be naming it as the “TGA Tencent Esports Games” going forward. It will cover more than 30 titles, including Arena of Valor, as well as eight separate professional esports competitions. That’s not all. Tencent also announced that they are going to create a separate league or competition exclusively for professional women Arena of Valor players. Last, but certainly not the least, Tencent Games also announced their plans for expanding Honor of Kings, Arena of Valor’s local Chinese counterpart, to other forms of media such as film, music, and television, effectively turning the game into a multimedia franchise. In line with this, Tencent will partner with Kaixin Mahua, a China-based media entertainment company, to produce drama shows and a symphony concert tour in China for the hit MOBA title.
