Jeevun “Jag” Sidhu, a senior game designer over at Riot Games, revealed the possible changes that could be made to Aatrox with the coming of League of Legends Patch 9.9.

Keep in mind, these changes are not yet final. They’re still in proposal stage. Even if they are approved, they’ll still have to go through the Public Beta Environment for further testing before they are finally added to the main game.

The changes to Aatrox remain largely centered on undoing the changes made in previous patches. Case in point, during Patches 9.2 and 9.3, Umbral Dash (E) was changed, with the initial change increasing the recharge time on the ability before it was reversed in the second patch.

If the changes to Umbral Dash (E) does push through, then the ability will have two charges once again. The cooldown between casts will also return, with the recharge time being decreased to help balance things out.

The Umbral Dash isn’t the only ability of Aatrox that Riot Games seem keen on changing. The champion’s ultimate, World Ender (R), gives the Darkin Blade a guaranteed revive. This makes him a versatile pick that can dive towers safely with no repercussion. In the proposed changed, Aatrox will no longer revive while using World Ender unless he gets a kill during the duration.

The change will not necessarily gimp the ability, however. In addition to requiring a kill during the duration of World Ender, securing kills will extend the duration of the ability by five seconds while also resetting the cooldown on Darkin Blade (Q) and giving one more charge to Umbral Dash (E). Riot Games also intends decrease the cast time on the ability while also increasing both the heal and the slow of the revive.

Again, these changes are all still preliminary. They will have to be approved first, and then tested on the PBE.
